India’s Hindutva policy; a move towards civilizational clash – Masood Khan
Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said that the Kashmir dispute is, in essence, an issue that affects the whole of the Muslim Ummah. He added that after August 5 last year, the situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has further emboldened the current BJP-RSS regime to further its Hindutva policy of exterminating the Muslim population of IOJK.
The President made these remarks while interacting with a delegation led by Molana Imtiaz Abbasi, Secretary General Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam AJK who called on him here at Jammu and Kashmir House.
The AJK President said that India is carrying out genocide in IOJK in an attempt to transform the Muslim majority into a minority and permanently alter the demography of the occupied territory. He said that the recent murder of Irfan Dar during Indian custody speaks volumes of the injustice and atrocities being committed by India in IOJK. “Hundreds of Kashmiris have been mercilessly killed; thousands have been forcefully disappeared and are being tortured; while womenfolk are openly dishonoured. The political leadership is incarcerated and incapacitated”, he said.
Masood Khan while praising the efforts of Molana Saeed Yousef, Ameer JUI-AJK and Molana Imtiaz Abbasi said that religious parties and scholars in AJK have played a pivotal role in raising the profile of the Kashmir issue. He said that influential religious scholars can act as a uniting force to help garner wide support for the Kashmir cause. “The Indian government’s Hindutva driven policy is leading to a clash of civilisations, which will, not only, impact the people of this region but the whole world. The Muslim Ummah needs to unite and fight this imminent threat to global peace”, he said.
Molana Imtiaz Abbasi said that religious scholars of AJK are united for the cause of Kashmir and will not spare any sacrifice to ensure the people of Kashmir attain their legitimate right to self-determination. He said that every effort will be made to intensify raising awareness on Kashmir and uniting the people of AJK and Pakistan.
President Masood urged the need for rallying the support of peace-loving people around the globe in making the Kashmir freedom struggle an international movement which would force global powers to take concrete measures for stopping human rights abuses in IOJK and help resolve this longstanding dispute. He said that the people of Kashmir have not given up and will not be intimidated into surrendering their cause.
Molana Imtiaz Abbasi also requested the President for revisiting and increasing the remunerations given to the Huffaz who are teaching the Holy Qur’an under the AJK Tajweed Al-Qur'an Trust. He said that currently the teachers are facing many hardships as the existing stipend is not sufficient.
The President while commending the noble efforts of the Tajweed Al-Quran Trust assured that the Board of Governors meeting would be convened soon for resolving this just demand. He said that teaching the Holy Qur’an will help strengthen faith of the students by encouraging them to lead their lives according to the true tenets of Islam, improve their spiritual well-being and help promote the message of peace and tolerance in the society.
The President also invited Molana Fazal-ur Rehman, Ameer JUI (F) to visit Muzaffarabad. He said that the presence of Molana Fazal-ur-Rehman in Muzaffarabad will send a very encouraging and impactful message.
